Parents say kid likes me, then they ask me to babysit. I smell BS, what do you think?

I am a 18yo male, and the kid is a 3yo girl. The parents claim the kid "loves" me, and now they asked me to babysit. The only problem is I don't even know the people. WTF. I smell a lie, a setup, something. I went to there house and the kid was all over me. Surprising

sense this is the first time we ever met.

Am I right not to trust these people?

What do you smell?

Do you think they are trying to set me up, or does the kid portray a legit feeling? (that is there whole argument)

I think you're smart to stay away from these people since you don't even know them.  An 18 year old man has no business being around a 3 year old girl that he doesn't know... and the parents are bonkers for thinking that's a good idea.

It is weird for an 18 yo man to babysit any kids that aren't his own. No reasonable parent would ever leave their children with an unknown man. So, yeah this thing has weird written all over it.

Run like the wind. If you don't even know these people how did they find you?   And although children are very friendly at that age, for them to out of the blue want a complete male stranger to babysit is odd.
