I am going to my town Fair this late afternoon. I am setting rules for my 6 year old and four year old. You think this be good for them both.

1. Stay with mommy all times.

2. No running off

3. Listen to mommy.

4. No playing in the dirt.

5. No talking to strangers.

6. If you don't see mommy start yelling for mommy or find a sheriff or police officer.

That all I can think off. If you have anymore ideas please let me know. We do have sheriff and police there incase anything does happen. I have my digital camera but I taking one set of pictures of them want they are wearing and want they look like just incase something does happen. It more accurate then a month go I would say. Be watching rough truck tonight there and we be sitting our chairs over the dirt.. I have my stroller if my four year old doesn't listen. Which he been doing good listening. He does get tired out easy of walking ( asthma he has), My 6 year old has ADHD.. But setting rules before I leave so I can tell them.

  1. 1. Hold hands with mommy at all times.

    6. If you don't see mommy - stay put. Mommy will find you. Only if you see a police do you leave where you are.

    7. If someone takes you - yell - YOUR NOT MY MOMMY - HELP repeately

Also, put your cell phone number on something and keep in their pocket - or a piece of tape inside their shoe.  Teach them to show the number to police if needed.

  2. I think that those rules are fine. If you give them too many they children get confused. Other than that pray that all goes well and enjoy your family outing. It is normal as a parent to worry about the safety of your children.

    Great Mom

    Miley

  3. Sounds good. Maybe you can give the 6 year old a job, like "protecting' the four year old, or be in charge of when/what snacks to get. Fill their time with things they can do, like spotting different animals, etc. Don't expect them to remember all the things they are not allowed to do, or they will focus on those things.

  4. They sound good but one suggestion I always tell my kids to fin a lady if possible. I once saw somewhere thet you should tell your children to find a woman as oppose to a man.

  5. Those sound like good rules for any day, fair or not.

  6. That sounds fair and reasonable to me. You are concerned about their safety. You are teaching them proper behavior for public events.

That has to be tough with a 6 year old and ADHD. My youngest brother has that. My parents had a tough time with him. It's more challenging.

  7. always good to plan ahead. sounds good to me, just don't give them too much junk, it's so easy to get sick at these things.(that goes for myself too, ha, ha.)

  8. The 6yo has ADHD because you eat in McDonalds. Stop feeding the kids with trash food!

I disagree with "Listen to mommy" and "Don't talk to strangers".

    Try "Think with your brain".

  9. i think those are good rules . one other thing to consider doing , just in case your lil one get away from you , put a piece of paper in there pocket with name , phone # , address , your name . and whatever else you can think of.  have fun this evening !!!

  10. Well I don't usually put that much thought into it. My kids listen everywhere we got and stick by me. But if you are worried or have kids that are hyper, like your older one, than I would make the rules very simple and few

A- ALWAYS be where I can see you

B- Beware of people you don't know, even if they are friendly

C- Carefully and loudly scream for police if someone offers you candy or tries to lure you away

I think that is much easier to remember

Don't scare the kids! You sound pretty scared and that will pass onto the kids. Just let them have fun and have set and clear consequences... 'everytime you don't listen, you have to stand by me and miss a ride while your brother goes on one and you watch'. I think it sounds fun... don't sweat it. Keep it simple and fun.

  11. I agree with them, however instead of yelling for an officer tell them to look for one or to find another mommy and tell them he is lost.  Other than that, have fun at the fair! :)
