  1. My daughter likes all the current pop that most 10 year old girls listen to. But she's also a musical nerd like me so we both enjoy all showtunes from Sound of Music to Mama Mia and Moulin Rouge.

  2. My mom and I have different music tastes. But the difference is that my music taste is more varied than hers. I listen to anything. From death metal to pop to hip hop. She is still stuck in the old days with her ABBA, which I love as well.

  3. They listen to the songs of the angles........wife and twin sons were lost to me in  Sept 1983, in the Korean Airlines Flight 007 that was shot down over the South China Sea.......

    Christopher

  4. I make sure my son is not listening to music with inapropriate language or songs that go on and on about s*x and stuff.

Most of the stuff on the radio is ok but watch for sertain bands that like to use explisit language and one that go on about s*x and or sexual things that young children wouldn't understand.

    hope this helps!

  5. im 13, and i listen to all the greats...acdc, van halen, guns'n'roses, some chili peppers, scorpions, jimi hendrix, black sabbath, etc.  I HATE disney endorsed singers

basically, the same stuff as my dad (he hates it when i blast it  on guitar though)

  6. i hate it when kids listen to the same stuff their parent does.

The times have changed, and kids dont understand the problems that were going on 30-40 years ago, so most of it is irrelevant to them.

  7. no my kid loves country music and i love rock and roll

  8. My mom listens to the same music as me. Its pretty funny how we like the same music. She likes Jonas brothers and flo rida and diddy and music like that.

  9. My five year old is a Queen fanatic!  (just like me) and my seven year old likes the "Sweeney Todd" soundtrack (the songs I decided were appropriate) and songs from "Spamalot"  (we are Monty Python fans)  The interesting thing is, when I was expecting my seven year old, I played Johanna in Sweeney Todd.  I never told him this, but, when the movie came out, he went nuts over the previews and LOVES the music.

  10. yes, my boy loves the same music I do so does my girl...but my girl likes girl singers more than boys and my boy likes boy signers more than girls...

also I find myself liking the oldies that my parents use to listen to

  11. No, not really. They have their own tastes.

  12. My husband likes Rock and older stuff and I like dance music and hip hop and country so our son here's it all. I think kids should get to hear it all and pick what they like as long as it is age appropriate.

  13. They're all over the map. My 14yo listens to hip-hop mostly; my 11yo listens to "guitar god" music, mostly metal, from the 70s to now; and my 8yo, God help me, listens to Hannah Montana. Fortunately she also listens to Sheryl Crowe, (sp?), Natalie Merchant, Norah Jones, and Dixie Chicks, so it's not all bad.

Definitely not the same music I listen to, tho we can find some common ground (e.g. Ozomatli, the aforementioned grrls, etc.).

  14. Is that what that is??  I thought it was an invasion by Aliens!!

    LOL

In all seriousness - I don't like the Radio "sexual references" and "double entendres to foul language" --

-- but, how do you protect your kids against the Radio??

I don't even like them watching the News or SitComs, anymore...

To ANSWER your Original Question -->

They like the Hip-Hop stuff, which isn't my Gig.

But, then My parents hated Rock&Roll

-- and THEIR Parents, hated Swing & Big Band...

    so, I guess --

"...the music goes 'round & 'round...whoa, whoa whoa -- and it comes out here..."

  15. Definitely.  We have a varied line of music we listen to, including (but not limited to) Christian, Hip Hop, Rock and Country.  My 5 yr old son loves Daughtry, and has memorized every song on the CD.  I've taken my 9 yr old daughter to see Kelly Clarkson twice - it has become a tradition, that when she comes to town - we're going to see her.  We make it a "Girls' Day" and have a blast!  I am careful not to expose them to violent and/or too sexual songs, however I don't take it to extremes, because they'll hear them when I'm not around, and I would rather them know how I feel about the songs, and that way my husband and I are instilling our values in our children.

  16. whatever they want to

  17. They do listen to the same music as myself....which is everything (usually classic rock, country or musicals) I don't listen to anything with cursing...

But usually in the car, we listen to the Disney Mania cds, any Disney soundtracks and expecially High School Musical 1 and 2! My kids love High School Musical.....

Omg I forgot about Hannah Montana...my kids love her too! LOL!

  18. My 6 year old knows ever song on the radio and TV. I let her listen to some of those kidz bop songs.

  19. yes they do. aged 12, 10, 3. and a baby. my 3 year old listens to everything on the radio and knows the words and what songs they are

  20. well my kids are young so they dont really listen to real music. more like barney and doodle bops little sing-alongs. but they do like country.

  21. I don't have children, but the ones I watch listen to mostly Disney stuff...Disney soundtrack, Disney Manie, Radio Disney!

  22. NO!! It depends on what age.

4-8 yrs= young harmless singers like childrens singers

9-13 yrs= Miley Cyrus, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Cheetah Girls and etc.

14-23 yrs= Avril Lavigne, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the disco, Christina Aguilara, Three Days Grace and other emo(emotional) bands.
