  1. You can look at this on many levels.

First, as stated by other posters, Paris is a city, so it can't really be compared to a US state.

If you were to look at cities broadly, New York and Paris would compare favourably . Both are world cities with a great deal of culture.

If you were to look at population, you would probably compare Paris to New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

If you were to look at culture, you would look at New Orleans.  Louisiana still uses a Civil Code-based form of law, very similar to France as a whole.  Also, there are many people of French and French-Canadian descent in New Orleans (which was originally named Nouveau-Orléans).

  2. Nothing else, if you really want an answer i can say "London" but's not an american City and Paris is really more beautiful...so come to Paris and enjoy it...

In europe London and Paris are the two bigger Cities, Something like the Twin-Cities, One is beautiful, the other is less...

  3. You cannot compare a city like Paris to a US state since a state is similar to a province/territory/etc.  However, if you are going to compare a romantic and historical city like Paris to a US city, I would say New York city in the spring.

  4. Paris is a city, not a state, and therefore cannot be compared to a U.S. state.  Furthermore, Paris is arguably the most amazing city in the world, and thus, should not be compared to any other cities.  That being said, I'd say architecture-wise, if you had to choose an American city that resembles Paris, it would be Washington, D.C.  Why do I say that?  Because French architect, Pierre L'Enfant, designed Washington, D.C.

  5. Firstly

Paris is not just a city, it's a department of the region Ile de France. The 20 borrough which composed Paris can be comparated as little town in the city. Paris is the only town which have this statut: a town and a department in France. You must know that France have nothin in common with your country. The territory is a lot smaller so our towns too. Paris is the only town we can compare with an American city but we can't afford compare it by Style or architecture, Paris is unique and we can't really say Paris look like Denver or Indiannapolis...

By the way i would say the life in Paris is a little bit like in New york: But you really have to come in PAris to make your opinion about this question.
