Paris - Can you pay for the funicular in Montmartre or do you need a pass?

I was just in Montmartre about a year ago, and if my memory serves me correctly, I believe you can use a standard Métro ticket to ride the funicular; Paris Visite, Mobilis, and other RATP passes are also valid for transportation. If you don't have a ticket or pass with you, you can buy one in the upper or lower station.

it's closed now for repairs so just walk up the stairs (prettier and only takes 5-10 minutes).

you need a normal metro ticket or a carte orange to use it but the last time i was there it wasn't working ... i don't know if they fixed it yet
