When i am older i would love to live in Paris i have been there twice and love it i am an artist so it is a great place for me, But the only thing holding me back is my family back home in sydney, I love sydney too but i feel Paris has more to offer and would be a great experience. The only thing is that if i do go to Paris i won't be able to see my family often or my friends, Although i have family in France and England my immediate family is in Sydney? What DO i do?

  1. Go to Sydney.  The reason is that you're more connected with the culture there and so you'll have a more enjoyable time.  Paris is a beautiful city no doubt but it is:

    1. Full of tourists.  Each summer over 2 million people from all over the world come here.

    2. Very expensive.

    3. The Paris art community is changed dramatically over the past few years.  Due to the high cost of living most French artists have their workshops outside of Paris.  Most artists you see in Paris are catering to the tourist crowds.

Go to Sydney!  You'll love it there.  It is inexpensive, beautiful, friendly, kind, fun...

  2. PARIS!!!

  3. I'd stay closer to family... It's probably easier to live in a slightly worse place with your family around, then a slightly nicer place, always missing them.

Or, if it really does wind down to a tie between the two areas, I'd say see if you can afford to visit both places for a week or so (stay in a hotel, or something) and weigh your options.

I'd suggest not acting on whims though, because you have wayyyyyyyyy too much time to spend in these places to not think deeply into it, and try to imagine how you'd feel further down the road. Too many people go with a feeling or impulsive desire that nags at them, then realize quickly that they should have simply thought the matter through...

...which is easy as cheese, and doesn't kill any puppies, either. :)

  4. Go on a working holiday for a year to see if you like it before you move there permanently. You might really miss your family and friends and want to come home. But you should go experience it or you will regret it. Make sure you don't fall into a long term relationship in the mean time, then you will never go if they dont want to go with you. Good luck.

  5. As someone else suggested, try living and working in Paris for a year or two.  That will give you a good idea of whether or not the city is the place for you.  If you don't try it, you will regret it for the rest of your life!

  6. Well, it depends. I love paris , becuase im also into art and i like everything about it , like the little cafes and its nice and romantic. =].

never been to sydney, but im sure its nice.

    good luck =]

  7. i say go to paris for a few years to enjoy then go back to sydney to stay...my fellow aussie :)
