Paris Saint-Germain Vs Olympique Lyonnais – Match Analysis (Lyon)
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 suffered their second Ligue 1 defeat of the season when they lost 2-0 to Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes in week 9 of the Ligue 1 action on October 2, 2011.
The game against PSG was touted as Lyon’s biggest obstacle in their bid to lift the Championelle for the first time in four years. Remi Garde’s men had been in great form ahead of the game but never really dominated proceedings and were left stunned in the
second half by an effective performance delivered by PSG.
The defeat means that Les Gones have dropped to third place in the Ligue 1 standings with 17 points from nine games and Remi Garde is aware that his side will have a lot of work to do in order to stay in the title hunt.
Though the defeat has not done any major harm to their title aspirations, Les Gones know that a repeat of the performance at Parc des Princes should not be repeated again.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-Lloris-c16408 has been Lyon’s beacon of hope during the club’s four-year trophy drought. The French custodian has perhaps been Lyon’s most valued servant in recent years and was once again in fine form. Up against one of the most dangerous attacking units
in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, the young goalkeeper stood well to his task as he denied Menez, Gameiro, Pastore and Nene on numerous occasions.
The young goalkeeper should have done well to save Pastore’s shot that went past his front post. Apart from that, Lloris did his best to keep Lyon in the game.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aly-Cissokho-c5313 has always been blamed for forgetting his defensive duties and concentrating more on the attack. However, the young left-back grew stronger as the game progressed. Though the Lyon defence was stretched to the limits, the Cissokho showed a lot
of maturity and somehow managed to keep Pastore at bay in the first half.
Kone and Réveillère were nearly flawless throughout the game and did well to contain the likes of Pastore, Menez and Nene.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Kim-c20955 Kallstrom has been in great form for Les Gones throughout the season and along with Maxime Gonalons, the Swede international has formed a great midfield partnership. However, the night at Parc des Princes turned out to be a frustrating outing for the
duo. Kallstrom was too wasteful in the midfield and could not cope with the presence of Matuidi nor his substitute Chantome.
Gonalons made a great start to the game and was an ever-present in the midfield for Lyon in the first half. However, second half showed an out-of-sorts Gonalons who kept on losing the ball frequently and put his team under extra-pressure.
Lacazette was not convincing at all in his first start for Garde’s side this season. The youngster was easily dealt with by Lugano and Tiene. Garde must be hoping for a quick return for Lisandro Lopez and Clement Grenier.
Gomis on the other hand, was left asking for more from a Lyon midfield that lacked creativity in the middle of the park. Furthermore, Jeremy Briand was unable to help out the former Saint-Etienne striker.
Final verdict
Remi Garde should be hoping for a quick return of Yoan Gourcuff and Lisandro Lopez. Clement Grenier missed the game due to injury and his absence was sorely missed. Though Les Gones were deservedly beaten, Garde should not be too disappointed with the result
as Lyon are still in a great position to push for a title assault.
