Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais clash on the horizon – Ligue 1 news
Week 9 of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 season promises to be an exciting prospect for all Ligue 1 followers. Sunday evening, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Olympique-Lyonnais-c40130 travel to Paris to face an in-form Paris Saint-Germain side at the Parc des Princes.
In a shocking turn of events, advisor to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas, Bernard Lacombe has wished misfortune to befall on the capital club. Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique Lyonnais are currently level on points at the top of the Ligue 1 standings. With 17 points from seven games and a goal difference of seven for PSG and 14 for Lyon, the two sides might take the Championelle race down to the wire.
However, Bernard Lacombe is hopeful that things won’t remain the same. The advisor opened hostilities ahead of the fixture by saying that although PSG will be a tough opponent throughout the season, he is hopeful that the players are likely to be involved in a war of egos as is the case with many newly-rich clubs these days.
“Paris is going to be tough but we hope that at some point there will be big problems because they have players with character and ego,” said Aulas’ right-hand man while talking to OL TV.
However, Lyon should not be relying on that hope when they meet the Parisians. Lacombe admits that the game against PSG would be Lyon’s first big test of the season. On Tuesday night, Les Gones will play against Partizan Belgrade in the UEFA Champions League at home while Les Parisiens will travel to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 to play Atletico Bilbao in the Europa League.
The two teams will then play against eachother three days after their European fixtures which means that a good result in midweek good be great motivation for both sides.
Though Lacombe has started the war of words with his counterparts, it seems that Paris Saint-Germain will do most of their talking on the pitch like they have done in recent games. Furthermore, Lacombe’s recent sayings will have no affect on both sides’ morale as Lyon and PSG are definitely two teams who are clearly showing signs of mounting a title assault this term.
