Gregory van der Wiel will be following in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva and Lucas Moura to sign at PSG this transfer window
The Dutch International has been tracked by manager Carlo Ancelotti for quite a time. And it was not unexpected that Ancelotti will sign the talented 24-year-old from Ajax. It is pertinent to mention here, that the transfer market is still open for French
clubs until 4th September and Ancelotti has confirmed imminent coup of the right-back.
Christophe Jallet, France international and the captain of PSG, has been the only right-back in the squad and the recent signing will provide a back-up for Ancelotti. However, the manager does not see any risk to Christophe after the new signing.
The experienced Italian squashed off the apprehensions posed to Christophe as the tactician said, “Christophe was our only option at right-back, now he will have compeitition, but that does not pose any problem for Christophe.”
Van der Wiel, who is set to sign on a lucrative 300,000 euro per month deal, and reportedly a 6 million euros transfer target, has also relished the prospect of embarking on a new challenge. The Dutch press quoted the player as, “I am ready for a new challenge.
At Ajax I have experienced some marvelous moments but the time for change has come.”
In other news, Kevin Gameiro, is also expected to make a move away from Paris before the transfer window closes.
Elsewhere, Thiago Silva will not be featuring in tonight’s clash against Lille. The much anticipated debut of the experienced 47 million euros man has gone down the wire as he is reportedly injured. The injury surfaced after the player came from participating
in the Olympics.
Ezequiel Lavezzi too, will not be featuring in today’s fixture as he serves the second of his two match suspension. Mohamed Sissoko, however, has been named in the squad for the evening’s fixture.
On the contrary, Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be playing in today’s fixture after coming back to training earlier in the week. The Swedish striker is still not 100 % according to Ancelotti, as he faced sidelines due to an ankle injury.
