Paris Saint-Germain considering Wilson Palacios as Claude Makelele’s replacement – Ligue 1 news
Report in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wilson-Palacios-c36948 as they seek to replace Claude Makelele who retired at the end of last season.
Palacios is currently playing in the English Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur but is being tipped for a move away from the White Hart Lane. The Paris Saint-Germain direction sees the 26-year-old midfielder as a valuable addition to the squad and is considering
making contact with Tottenham over the sale of the player.
Though http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 Investment Authority have not officially taken charge of the club, the Middle Eastern consortium has already started its work on the club’s future. For several weeks, the club has been linked with moves for many players. Furthermore, the imminent
arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sporting-89-c40576 Director means that the club is set to make a lot of moves in the transfer market this summer.
Currently, Paris Saint-Germain have Clement Chantome in their ranks who filled in well for Claude Makelele when the Frenchman missed a few games last season. However, the club’s coaching staff believes that the youngster still needs time to develop as a
solid defensive midfielder. This means that the club is looking at Palacios as a short-term replacement for Makelele.
Palacios joined Tottenham from Wigan Athletic in January 2009 for a fee of 12 million Euros. Palacios joined the club on a five-and-a-half-year contract which means that Spurs won’t sell the player for a cheap price. A fee in the region of 15 million Euros
is considered to be enough to bring the Honduran to the Parc des Princes.
Palacios on the other hand might also favour a move away from the White Harte Lane. The rapid rise of Lisandro in the Tottenham ranks has forced Palacios to a bench role at the club. last season, the former Birmingham City man made just 18 league appearances
for Spurs and is not guaranteed of regular playing time next season.
A move to PSG might not take Palacios’ career to the next level but the Honduran might be able to play more frequently with the Ligue 1 side. Furthermore, Clement Chantome might be given a role of an understudy to Palacios next season which means that the
Honduran might get more playing time at PSG than he will at Tottenham of he chooses to stay with Harry Redknapp’s team.
