Paris Saint-Germain edge closer to signing Mauro Zarate from Lazio – Ligue 1 news
Despite the long-awaited arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 at Paris Saint-Germain, recruitments are slow to arrive at the Parc des Princes. Though many players are being linked with a move to the Parisian club, nothing has been concrete so far – a situation that has started
irritating the PSG faithful.
However, much to the relief of PSG supporters, sporting director Leonardo is on the verge of signing Argentine winger Mauro Zarate from Italian Serie A side Lazio.
According to Italian sports daily Sportitalia, negotiations between PSG and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 are already underway as the Brazilian seeks to make his first signing since taking over the post of Sporting Director. The Argentine was linked with a move to Parc des Princes
for a long time and it now seems that the former Birmingham City man will join the Ligue 1 side.
The Velez Sarsfield graduate shocked the whole world in the summer of 2007 when he chose to join Al Sadd right after finishing as the top scorer in the Argentine Clausura championship. However, things never worked out for the youngster at the Qatari club
and after making just six appearances left Al-Zaeem to join Birmingham on loan.
However, the youngster later on joined Italian Serie A side Lazio in the summer of 2008. Since then, the youngster has become an integral part of the Biancocelesti side and has made over 103 appearances for the Roman club and has scored 25 goals.
Reports suggest that Lazio are unwilling to let go of their prized asset but might let go off him if an amount in the region of 15 million Euros is provided. Last season, Zarate played 35 matches for Aquile and scored nine goals as the capital club finished
the league in fifth place.
Furthermore, rumours suggest that the recent arrival of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Miroslav-Klose-c26049 and Djibril Cisse might see Zarate’s playing time at the club reduced so the youngster is also eager to move on to a new challenge. Though club president Claudio Lotito is reluctant in
letting go of the Argentine, a move to Parc des Princes can’t be ruled out as PSG have enough financial strength to force Lazio into selling the player.
