Paris Saint-Germain keeping tabs on Algerian international Mourad Meghni – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that ambitious Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on Algerian international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mourad-Meghni-c26920.
Algerian sports daily, Le scorer suggests that former Algerian international Djamel Belmadi has recommended the club to recruit Mourad Meghni from Qatari giants Umm Salal. Reports now suggest that Belmadi has already slipped Meghni’s name to the new decision-maker
(http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056).
However, luring the 27-year-old winger away from the Qatari club could prove to be difficult for Les Parisiens. On 10 June, 2011, Italian Serie A side Lazio terminated Meghni’s contract after mutual consent and the former Sochaux man then joined Qatari side
Umm Salal where he is expected to play in the upcoming season.
The Clairefontaine graduate joined Italian Serie A side Bologna in 2002 and after making 72 appearances for the Italian side, left for Roman giants http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 in 2007. However, the Algerian international failed to shine with the Aquile and after making just 48
appearances for the capital club in four seasons, left the club last month.
Though it still remains to be seen if Leonardo would be interested in signing Mourad Meghni or not, the 27-year-old’s arrival at the club would definitely give Paris Saint-Germain a lot of attacking options ahead of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 campaign.
Though Leonardo has been asked to bring in former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adel-Taarabt-c3610 to the club this summer, bringing in an experienced Meghni might also prove to be a good bargain for the club. Though Meghni might not be expected to feature day in day
out for Les Parisiens next season, his presence would definitely add a lot of depth to the squad.
The Parisian club is also close to getting the signature of the highly-rated AS Saint-Etienne defensive midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Blaise-Matuidi-c7681. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard this summer and PSG are favourites for landing
the Frenchman’s signature.
Though it still remains to be seen when PSG will officially announce the signings of Meghni and Matuidi, it seems that the club has finally started finalising things in the summer transfer window after being silent for most part of the transfer window.
