Paris Saint-Germain keeping tabs on Per Mertesacker of Werder Bremen – Ligue 1 news
Reports in French media suggest that big-spending French Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain are keeping tabs on German international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Per-Mertesacker-c29680 who is currently on the books of German Bundesliga side Werder Bremen.
Following their sluggish victory over Valenciennes in a Ligue 1 encounter this Sunday, many believe that Les Parisiens still need something more to their defence. Antoine Kombouare’s men still showed weakness in defence despite solid performances by Milan
Bisevac and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zoumana-Camara-c38101.
According to french sports daily L’Equipe, sporting director of PSG, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 is considering bringing in another central defender to the side with the name of Per Mertesacker on the top of his list.
Though the club is looking for a new left-back following some inconsistent displays by Siaka Tiene in the starting games of the 2011/2012 campaign, it now appears that PSG are also seriously considering bringing in a new centre-back.
The club is also in the hunt for a new striker and Leonardo is willing to let go of Turkish international Mevlut Erdinç who has simply no place in the squad. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Borriello-c23672 have all been linked with moves to Parc des Princes but
nothing has materialised yet.
Now, the Parisian club have turned their attention towards http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 FC
were linked with a move for the former Hannover man.
However, it seems that manager Arsene Wenger still hasn’t made up his mind in order to improve the club’s defence that has let him down frequently over the past few seasons.
Mertesacker was signed by Werder Bremen in the summer of 2006 from Hannover for a fee in the region of five million Euros. Since his arrival at the Bremen based club, the Hannover-born defender has become one of the most consistent central defenders in Germany.
Mertesacker has played over 142 Bundesliga games for Bremen and has scored 12 goals. If rumours linking him with a move to Parc des Princes turn out to be true, Leonardo and Antoine Kombouare can definitely hope for some improvement in their defence upon
the German’s arrival who has been a modicum of consistency over the past few years.
