Paris Saint-Germain release details of Claude Makelele’s role – Ligue 1 news
Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain have released the details of the sports advisor role that former player Claude Makelele has been handed at the club.
The Frenchman retired from football at the end of the 2010/2011 Ligue 1 campaign and was offered a role at the club earlier this August. The details of his role were not released initially but the Parisian club has now given the details of Makelele’s role
at the club.
However, upon his retirement, Makelele had indicated of his desire to keep in touch with the game in the future.
When Claude Makelele joined the club in 2008, he was given a five-year contract. However, upon his retirement, the former Real Madrid man still had two years left on his contract. PSG now want to make full use of his contract and have made him the club’s
sports advisor.
According to Le Parisien, the former captain has been asked to occasionally make trips to Camp des Loges, the club’s training ground to give valuable advice to the first-team players and the academy players. Secondly, Makelele has been handed the task of
recruiting young players and also keep an eye on the talent around the world.
Makelele will also be the club’s ambassador for LFP and UEFA and would also have a say on the affairs at the Parc des Princes.
