Paris Saint-Germain still chasing Benfica's Nicolas Gaitan
French side, Paris Saint-Germain, are believed to be on the trail of Benfica’s Nicolas Gaitan, who is allegedly close to signing for English Premier League champions Manchester United.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 International, Nicolas Gaitan, has been on the radar of some of the biggest club’s in Europe following stellar performances for the Eagles in the UEFA Champions League as well as the Portuguese league.
The attacker has scored one this term, while assisting 5 times in 18 appearances for Benfica, and his stats coupled with his all round play has attracted the attention of Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain.
Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson is known to be a great admirer of the player and was full of praise for him earlier when both the teams went head-to-head at Estadio da Luz in the Champions League. The Scot had reportedly earmarked the player as a potential summer recruit
but United’s untimely injuries have forced his hand.
The Red Devils are knee-deep in an injury crisis and the veteran manager sees Gaitan as the ideal tonic to quell his midfield woes. Media outlets have been rife with speculation regarding the move and many have commented that a deal is already underway.
However the forward’s agent has revealed that is not the case and that he hasn’t heard from Benfica about a switch to Old Trafford.
"The two clubs must come to an agreement about the transfer and then they must talk to me, this is logical. Only after they reach an understanding can they contact me to know if the player is happy, if he wants to play at United, his salary, and those sort
of things."
With a move to United looking unlikely according to the player’s agent, Paris Saint-Germain are keen to acquire the 23-year-old’s services, as they look to become a pinnacle of European football.
The cash-rich Parisians have already demonstrated their considerable financial muscle during the summer and would not forego the chance to sign someone with Gaitan’s calibre.
However, if the interest from United is indeed real then PSG will be locked in a tight battle, which they are likely to lose given the prestige generally associated with their English rivals.
