Paris-Saint Germain still have a lot of cash to splash - Ligue 1 News
Ambitious French Ligue 1 side Paris-Saint Germain’s shopping spree in the ongoing transfer window has not ended after the imminent arrival of Javier Pastore from Italian Serie A side US Palermo.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi, Chairman of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986 Investment Authority, revealed that the signing of the Argentinean international will be completed within hours. The 43 million Euros transfer will set a new record in the Ligue 1 history, shattering the previous record
that was set by Nicolas Anelka’s 33.5 million Euros transfer from Real Madrid to PSG in the summer of 1996.
Nasser Al-Khelaifi confessed that the youngster’s transfer was a close call, as PSG were locked in a two-horse race with English Premier League giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.
PSG have already spent 83.5 million Euros this summer and do not intend to pack and leave just yet. In an interview to a french publication, Le Journal http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Du-c11689 Dimanche, the chairman of Qatar Investment Authority said, “If an opportunity presents itself the Qataris
would make full use of it in the first year and would go for an even bigger coup in the second year.”  He also added that the club intends to spend 100 million Euros by 31 August.
Leonardo, the director of football at Parc des Princes has already signed seven players. With the official signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082, the total expense of PSG will reach 83.5 million Euros leaving them with 16.5 million Euros to spend in the transfer window.
The former AC Milan director would now prefer signings of central defenders. According to some rumours, Les Parisiens are interested in Brazilian defender Luisao, currently playing for Primeira Liga giants Benfica. Luisao has been at the Lisbon outfit for
over eight years and was an integral part of the Aguia side that lifted the Portuguese domestic crown in the 2004/2005 season.
Despite being 30 years of age, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 sees the veteran defender as a perfect addition to the squad and will do everything he can in order to bring Luisao to Parc des Princes.
There are still more rumours spreading at PSG about the departure of striker Mevlut Erdinc to English Premier League side Newcastle. In wake of such reports, Leonardo might dip in the market for attacking reinforcements.
Nothing seems out of reach for the cash-laden owners of PSG. With the signing of big names, Les Parisiens will be expecting to qualify for the Champions League in the upcoming season and should dare to dream of winning their first Championelle after almost
17 years.
