Paris Saint-Germain’s Antoine Kombouare happy after edging past Olympique Lyon - French Ligue 1 News
The Ligue 1 side, Paris Saint-Germain’s manager, Antoine Kombouare, has expressed his delight at his side’s 1-0 win over Olympique Lyon. The 47-year-old was extremely thrilled at the win and claimed that his side came out to be as deserved winners in the end. He also praised the performance of his team’s defence, which stood absolutely firm and never looked fragile in front of a strong Lyon’s strike force.
Former Strasbourg’s manager was all pumped up especially due to the fact that his team climbed one notch up the table and overtaking Rennes at the fourth spot. This win has given a perfect opportunity for PSG to finish in the top three and qualify for the UEFA Champions League with just seven games remaining in the season.
Kombouare further added that, "I told the lads that Lyon are often slow starters and that it would be a difficult game. We put in a great performance before the break, but failed to score. It's very satisfying that we found the net after the break though when we struggled a bit."
Manager also hailed the performance of his striker, Camara, who was phenomenal throughout the game and did not give up hope at any stage of the game. It was his effort that earned Les Parisiens a vital three points.
He further mentioned that, "We really deserved to win this match. I have to congratulate [Lyon goalkeeper Hugo] Lloris, who made some great saves. I'm also very happy for Camara. He never gave up and that goal was reward for his hard work," he suggested.
PSG are currently fourth in Ligue 1 table with 52 points and are just one point short of the third-placed Olympique Lyon.
