  1. You can buy it at the airport or at any train station.

  2. Many people say the best buy is the Carte Orange pass, which is valid Sunday through Saturday. But if you are arriving late in the week, the ParisVisite pass is the better deal.

It is true that the ParisVisite pass almost certainly NOT a good deal unless you get the Zone 1-6 version which covers CDG, Versailles and Disneyland. Then if you are going to take at least two of these round trips it probably becomes a good deal.

A CDG-Paris RER ticket costs 8 euros. I'm not sure about Versailles and Disneyland. A 3- and 5-day ParisVisite pass costs 38.50 and 47 euros respectively. Metro tickets cost just over a euro. So you can figure whether the pass is a good deal or not.

To answer your questions, yes, you can buy it at the airport. I don't think you can order it in advance. If you want to get the Carte Orange instead, you will need a passport-sized photo.

  3. You can buy it at the airport but I suggest you consider carefully whether it is a good value for you. The pass generally isn't worth buying. Consider your itinerary and work out how many times you will be traveling on public transprot each day. For most people it is really more economical to just buy a carnet of 10 tickets and use them as needed.
