  1. If you are a budget travelling fans, I think HostelWorld is the right choice. It's the largest website for backpacker, I can always find good hostel with cheap price in midseason.

  2. Paris flats to rent

  3. Salut! I was in Paris last summer and we stayed at Maurice Ravel Youth Hostel. It's situated in the south-east of Paris, just a 5-minutes-walk from the métro station (Porte des Vincennes) Then it's just a few stations from L'ile de la Cité avec Notre-Dame.

Just key in Maurice Ravel Youth Hostel at Google et you will find the address and the contact. The rooms are comfortable and include baathroom, the breakfast is very good as well, you can even eat eggs and ham or bacon and drink a wonderful café au lait.

And the staff from the hostel is really friendly and helpful. I really enjoy it when I was à Paris last year, I am from the South de la France and when I come to Paris next time I will stay in Maurice Ravel Youth Hostel again.

    I hope this helped you.

    Bon voyage à Paris.

    Étienne

  4. I'm not sure where you could stay, but AVOID THIS COUPLE: Vincent and Anna Chagnon (she sometimes goes by Anna Desfusains) which have this apartment near the Louvre which they rent out on their website "Paris Apartments Louvre" (http://www.parisapartmentslouvre.com/lou...

We had a TERRIBLE time with them.  They didn't give us their contact number and their phones didn't work for outside numbers.  They didn't have the beds made up when we arrived and the sheets they gave us didn't fit.  We had to ask a neighborhood florist to use her phone to call them to ask for sheets.  She dialed them for us and explained our situation to them in French.  He yelled at her so rudely that she held the phone away from her ear that we could hear him.  We went to take a shower and twice, there was no hot water. Then they said they'd do our laundry (tho' it said that they had laundry facilities, they didn't trust guests to use their machines properly).  When we put the laundry in the corner, they took a day to do them, and another to give them back to us. When it came time to check out, they told us they'd meet us at the apartment to give us our deposit so we spent our last Paris morning waiting for them.  They didn't show, and we had to hound them from back home, with help from the Perfect Places agency to get our deposit back.  Thank God for them.  I think they have since dropped the Chagnons from their site.  If they haven't,  they should!

  5. The classic cheap sleep in Paris is the Hotel Tiquetonne at  6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arrondissment. A single room can be had for as little as 30€ (With private shower and WC the cost rises to 50€ single or double)

They have no internet presence so you need to call or fax for a reservation. Phone: 01-42-36-94-58  Fax: 01-42-36-02-94

  6. Hotel de Rouen.  It is very cheap but you get what you pay for.  It is also a very safe place to stay and the staff is very friendly, you do have to share bathrooms if you want the cheapest room.  It is across the street from La Banque de France so it is in a very secure area and the Louvre is a 5 minute walk.  The location couldn't be better, just don't expect anything but an OK bed to sleep in and a place for your stuff.

  7. Check out www.hotelresidencedupalais.com. I spent 53 euros a night for a room with a double bed and a private shower (full bathroom down the hall). There's an elevator, free breakfast, and the owner speaks good English and is very nice. It's within sight of Luxembourg Gardens and just a few minutes walk away from Notre Dame.
