I am looking for a hostel in paris that is a great location. i dont care how bare-bones it is. I tried looking on the several websites for hostels but they make them all look great so who knows? I really want someone who has had experience. Plus, it will just be me, so I find booking seems to be tough because they want to charge for at least 2 guests. please help.

  1. Take the metro to Piguelle and walk around for a while.. ask a few people and someone will point you to some place you can crash... just don't be too choosy and too judgmental and you should get along OK.

  2. I found that as a single traveller it was actually just as economic to stay in cheap hotels as there you are not paying for the other bed as in a hostel...the websites like hostels.com, hostelworld.com and hostelbooker.com also have cheap hotels.

In Paris I stayed in a TINY 2* hotel...it was the smallest of my travels!!!!! Although you go used to it and the breakfast was yummy...it was ok for me pricewise at the time as I was working in the UK...but it seemed like a cheap option for me at the time....the name was Londres and Anvers and it was less than 10mins walk from Gar du Nord train station....I'm sure there are more central locations, but this was ok for me.

  3. No need to book a room in a hostel (with all the inconvenience of lock outs and such).

You can get a single with shared bath at the Hotel du Marais "Bistrot"   at 16 rue de Beauce for € 25 or at the Hotel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne for € 30.
