Paris - is there a spot to avoid in the 5th or 6th arrondissement?

Question

Checking out apartments and found a couple in the Latin Quarter and St Ger. areas. . . is any location in 5 and 6 okay?

One we are really interested in is on rue Laplace

I lived not far for 5 years and it is a great area, you are not far from rue Monge and its market and walking distance of many many places to eat and shop etc.
