  1. 6 days is too long, in my opinion hun.  3 is more like it - see the sights and move on to Prague or London or Barcelona, heck anywhere seems great after you deal with the Parisian attitudes for 3 days!  hahaha

  2. Six days is barely enough to even begin seeing a city like Paris. With such a limited time there is little point in venturing very far out of the city.

Even on the TGV (the fastest train) the trip to Cannes from Paris will take over five hours.

If you want to go outside the city than I do suggest a trip to Versailles. It can be reached by bus from the Pont de Sevres metro stop. If the weather is pleasant its a very nice place to stroll around. In addition to the main palace there are two smaller palaces, the Grande and Petite Trianons, a fake rural village that was built by Marie Antoinette and even a small working farm complete with farm animals.

In Paris, at a minimum, you should see the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Saint Chapelle, the Conciergerie (where Marie Antoinette was imprisoned)  Champs Elysee, Tuilleries Gardens, Invalides (where Napoleon is buried), the Forum Les Halles, Luxembourg Gardens, the Opera Garnier 9the old opera house) the Pantheon, the Pont Alexander III, the Grand and Petit Palais and the Place de la Concorde (where the guillotine used to stand during the revolution).

As for museums, you should certainly vist the Louvre to see its most famous exhibits including the Mona Lisa and Winged victory. The Musee D'Orsay, the Modern Art museum at the Centre Pompidou, the Orangerie, and the Museum of the Middle Ages at the Cluny.

  3. Such a big question :) To answer your first, I think whether the number of days you spend there is enough or not depends on what you want to do or see (and that's entirely up to your own taste, of course), but I'd be willing to say (based on the fact that I love Paris...) that six days is not enough ;) but it's certainly enough time to get a good look at lots of things, and decide whether you'd want to come back for another visit.

Do you like museums? Parks? Just walking around? Nightlife and music? Shopping? Dining? Basically, Paris has all of these things, and more. About the walking, I'd say that Paris is one of the nicest cities to walk, meaning that it's a nice experience to even just hoof it and see the sights (there are so many). And what's nice is there are all of these things available at all kinds of price ranges (You can either spend lots or finds lots of inexpensive things. A huge benefit is if you're a student and have a student ID card with you... that gets you discounts into lots of museums and sights.).

I couldn't even begin to get into what's available to see and do without knowing what kinds of things you like, so I'd definitely suggest that you get a travel book on Paris.

As far as whether there are nice places to go by rail, the answer is yes to that, too. You can go to places like Disneyland Paris (don't know if that's your thing...), Versailles,...

Without having to buy a book, here is a link to get you started to finding some things you might enjoy: http://www.paris.org.

    Have a great time! :)

  4. You have enough information, but I want to tell my opinion too. Of course six days are not enough, maybe six weeks... You have a list of the "must see" places, but, don't forget, the charm of Paris is unforgettable, so you'll be back soon. Bon voyage !
