Question:

Paris to Strasbourg?

I'll be flying in to Paris end of June via CDG and expect to arrive at past 7pm. It'll be my first time to France. My final destination is Strasbourg. Until now, I have no idea how best to get to Strasbourg. According to my agent, If I buy a plane ticket for Paris-Strasbourg here (Cebu), it would cost me around $500, and over $250 if I get the Eurorail. I looked at the websites and the prices if bought in France are cheaper. I also looked at Eurolines site but they dont have buses to Strasbourg from Paris. I'll be travelling alone so I don't think renting a car would be a good idea. At this time of the year, do u guys think I can get a ticket to Strasbourg in Paris (probably Air France) even without an earlier booking? Would I need to tansfer airports from CDG to Orly? If I choose to travel by train, would I be able to buy a ticket without prior booking or reservation? Please help me plan my trip well. Thanks a lot.

  1. When you book early enough you just have to pay 39€ for a single trip by train:

  2. There's a direct TGV train from CDG airport to Strasbourg that leaves at 7:53 pm and arrives in Strasbourg at 10:17 pm, cost about 65 euros.  I really think you can just buy it when you get there.  They have a way on the French Rail website to pay for a ticket online and pick it up at the station in France, but you need to read French and put France as your country.  If you put another country it gets complicated.

That's the last direct train from CDG in the evening.  Later than that,  you can get another TGV bound for Lyon from CDG TGV station at 8:48 pm to Marne-la-Valee-Chessy at 8:59, then change to a  Strasbourg train at 9:25 pm, arriving at 11:52 pm.  If that seems tedious, just go to Paris and spend the night, then you have lots of trains the next day from Paris Est.

You take RER B from CDG to Paris.

    Check the website http://www.sncf.com

It's kind of hard to navigate the site, and if you click the wrong button it'll boot you over to raileurope.com, which charges a big profit on tickets.

For easy train schedule info, use Austria's site for all of Europe:

The only thing missing is the prices.
