Paris traveling tips?

Question

I will be going with my parents for Spring break (mid-late April). We will go for 6 nights, and only Paris.

What are some fun resteraunts?

I heard there is an Eiffel Tower light show on Friday nights at 8? Is this true or are there shows?

We will be staying at the Hilton Arc de Triomphe Paris hotel which is pretty nice. Is there a pool? Is it a nice hotel?

Also, what are some French terms I should learn?

Paris is quite some distance from the Mediterranean so its not likely you'll be seeing it on this trip.

The Hilton in Paris is just like the Hilton anywhere and you won't be able to figure out whether you're in Paris or Des Moines except that more people will be speaking French.

The weather will be pleasant  and somewhat cool but you should expect a fair amount of rain. It may well rain every day you are there so pack accordingly.

You might find a restaurant called Nos ancêtres les Gaulois (Our Celtic ancestors) at 39 rue St Louis en l'Ile on the l'Ile St Louis in the 4th arr. amusing. The gimmick here is that the staff are dressed up like Gauls, the ancient people of France. Troubadours walk around singing French folk songs. My daughter's favorite phrase, and the first words she learned in French were "Un crepe avec comfiture frais s'il vous plait." ( A crepe with strawberry jam please).

If you're old enough (or clever enough) to convince the parental units to let you loose on your own then you might enjoy the Friday night skate party that meets every friday night starting at 10 PM in the Place D'Italie. Several thousand people gather there and then skate around the city accompanied by a squad of police (also on skates). Its a unique way to see the city and to meet young French people. (You need to bring your own skates).

paris is really nice but u have to be careful because pick pokets arent uncommon, and also catcalls. the med. sea is swimable in april but i dont think u would have time to go down to the coast and bac to paris in just 6 nights its pretty far unless u fly there. umm.. u should know

La prise de courant ne marche pas.  The electrical outlet doesn't work.  I laughed when I saw this phrase in a book but the first week I was in France, guess what I had to say:  "La prise de courant ne marche pas."  There used to be a book called "French at a Glance" full of phrases and well organized with a section about Paris.  It still might be in print.  I'd suggest that you take a bus tour of the city (1-2 hours).  They have some in English and after a quick overview, you and your parents can decide what you really want to see.  Have a great time in Paris!  The Mediterranean Sea is far away from Paris (Nice is right on the Med).  Nice is worth a look (but you'll have to fly there)-- beautiful orange trees line the streets and the Med really is blue.  All the seas and oceans I'd seen previously were green.
