Question:

Paris trip suggestions?

This summer I'll be going to Paris for 4 nights. I don't speak /much/ French, although I know a little, and I was wondering if somebody could recommend the best way to see the sights.

I definitely want to see the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee D'Orsay, and the Arc de Triomphe.

I would appreciate it if people could recommend the best ways or times to see these and suggest more? Thank you!

  1. Just a tip, if you're going to Paris the first week end of the month, national museums will be free, however, the Louvre will still be full, so you should indeed go early.

Another place I would recommend is the Sacré Coeur at Montmartre, the best time to see this one is in the morning, when you can have a nice sight of Paris without any pollution cloud. It's on the top of a hill so you see the city pretty well.

L'Orangerie is also a nice museum, it kind of depends of what you want to see.

Most touristic spots are easily reached with the metro. But walking is pretty nice too, Pompidou and Notre - Dame are not very far from each other. And if you're going to Pompidou look out for artists, they sometime do nice shows there in the afternoon on summers (just look ou for a gathering at the stairs, if there's a show you'll know).

    have a nice trip

  2. The best way is to actually know someone who lives there to give you a tour. But since you'll be going in the summer all of the tourist attractions will be full of tourists.

Notre Dame is fairly quick to get in and out, the Louvre will be very busy, so get there early. Musee D'Orsay won't be too bad.

L'Arc de Triomphe is something you won't spend that much time, but do yourself a treat. Go to La Defence. You'll appreciate the new architecture and the view from there.

The Eiffel Tower is always busy, so thats another thing you'll want to do early or if you're patient to do it at night (for a beautiful view)

Also, check out La Centre Pompideu. It is the museum of modern art of Paris, but you'll have an amazing time just walking the streets.

But no matter what, always be patient with the locals.

  3. Well first, to get to the sights you should take the Paris Metro, and most of the lines lead to station close to famous sights like the ones stated above.

Also, if you wanted to go to Eurodisney, there is a bus that goes there, you can probabley get norew information from the Eurodisney Website.

Most of the sights are going to get Very Busy so arrive there early, and avoid eating at restaurants during normal times in which these meals take place. Several dinner restaurants open at about 5:00 to start serving and there are some restaurants along the streets that are in view of the Arc De Triomphe.
