I'm going to Paris next month and I can't find any great deals online to go to the Eiffel Tower and other attractions. Does anyone know a great site that can give me a deal on sightseeing and attractions?

  1. Definitely get a museum pass...they're available in 2-, 4- and 6-day passes. There are a plethora of museums included in the pass and you do get to go to the head of the line at most museums. It saves a lot of time. At the Musee d'Orsay, you get to go in a separate line. At Sainte-Chapelle, you get to go straight to the front of the line, much to the chagrin of the others. I can't believe so many people are unaware of this pass. It is available at larget Metro stations.

The museum pass does not include the Eiffel Tower though. I suggest going there early in the day or later in the afternoon because the line can be quite lengthy.

Another way to save money is to buy a metro pass (Carte Orange). They're good for one week, Monday-Sunday, unlimited Metro access in the zones you purchase...you'll probably only need the most basic, zone 1. The Carte Orange is approx. 15 Euros. You can also buy a carnet of Metro tickets (10)...it's 11 Euros...cheaper than buying individual tickets.

Definitely check out www.ricksteves.com. The man knows what he's talking about. I highly recommend buying Rick Steves' Paris 2007 for your trip. Lots of great info. He lists when the museums have free days, when to avoid certain museums (don't go to Versailles on a Tuesday or you won't see anything--too many people) and deals at certain hotels (like free breakfast if you show them your RS Paris book).

Other than that, I've not heard of a web site with deals to certain attractions in Paris. In any event, good luck and bon voyage!

  2. Lucky you....go to www.ricksteves.com and look around for something. Also read the 'grafitti wall', it's chock full of helpful tips from us fellow travelers. One thing you should buy is a museum card (I think that's what they're called). You can get them at any major metro station, and they allow you to skip the lines at most attractions!
