Parish Hall’s journey to compete in the Investec Derby will remain a distant dream
The Jim Bolger trained Parish Hall has been ruled out of the Abu Dhabi Irish 2000 Guineas, which is hosted at Curragh on 26th May, 2012, where he was scheduled to compete against ten other runners over 1 mile.
The trainer was immensely excited about this runner and hoped had high hopes, but seems that luck has abandoned him and his colt at the last minute and Parish Hall has picked a leg infection, because of which he cannot participate in this event today.
Had the son of Teofilo, out of mare Halla Siamsa, competed and won, he would have had a spot in the Investec Derby, which is scheduled to take place on 2nd June, 2012.
This injury will not allow the talented runner to compete at Investec Derby as it seems that he will not recover in time. Bolger informed this news to the Press Association Sport and stated that:
"It's not a very pleasant experience getting so close to the race. He's picked up a leg infection but I've no idea how long it will keep him off for. I'd imagine I will have a better idea by Wednesday or Thursday. This rules out Epsom as well."
The three-year-old was in extremely good form and seemed to have it made until this unfortunate event.
With his skill and speed, he has scored twice in his five starts and might have had a chance in this race if he had been fit.
For someone as young as him, he has demonstrated superior racing ability as he claimed a victory in the Group 1 category last season.
The Mrs. J. S. Bolger owned runner came out on top in the Group 1 Dubai Dewhurst Stakes which took place at Newmarket on 8th October, 2011.
Paired with jockey, K.J. Manning, Parish Hall exhibited superior racing ability as he bolted through the track and defeated race favourite, Power, by a small difference of ½ length.
The runner was also scratched from the Qipco 2000 Guineas which was held at Newmarket earlier in May because of the soft condition of the track.
