Pariya Junhasavasdikul aims a strong finish at the Thailand Golf Championship
Pariya Junhasavasdikul of Thailand is confident to end his 2012 Asian Tour campaign on a high note, as he heads to Bangkok to participate in the second-last tournament of the season, the Thailand Golf Championship.
The tournament will be staged at the Amata Spring Country Club, which is regarded as one of the toughest golf courses in Asia.
Right from the beginning of the year, Junhasavasdikul has struggled with his form – he missed the cut in 10 of his first 16 Asian Tour starts this season.
However, the Thai star recently showed some signs to return to his form, as he made the cut in five of the six tournaments that he played.
Last week, he participated in the King’s Cup and finished tied for the 17th position. It was a decent finish, considering the fact that the tournament featured some of the best players from different parts of the world.
Currently, he holds the 42nd position in the Asian Tour Order of Merit, and is in safe corner to secure his card for the upcoming season.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, he stated that he will try his best to maintain consistency in his game, in a bid to finish among the top-30 players in the money list.
“I struggled a bit middle of the season. I wasn’t driving the ball well,” he said. “I’ve been working with my coach and finally we found out, it wasn’t a swing issue. My clubface was just a little bit open. I needed to tweak my driver and it paid off last
week. I changed to a new driver in Hong Kong and made the cut there”.
Junhasavasdikul does not hold a decent track record in the Thailand Golf Championship. Yet, he believes that he will be able to contend strongly in the event, while utilizing his experience in The Open Championship International Final Qualifying.
“I didn’t play well here last year but my record of playing in The Open Championship International Final Qualifying (IFQ) - Asia is quite good. I guess I have to bring back that feeling of playing in the IFQ,” he said.
