Park Chu-Young wants a move away from AS Monaco – Ligue 1 News
South Korea international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Park-Chu-Young-c29137, has expressed his desire to leave AS Monaco in search of top division football. The player’s agent has also confirmed Park’s desire, saying that the Korean wants a new challenge elsewhere preferably in a top division.
Monaco got relegated from Ligue 1 following a series of poor results during the 2010/11 campaign. The team just managed nine wins from their 38 games and finished 18th on the table which confirmed their relegation to Ligue 2. Park has made it
clear that he wants a move away from the club as it’s no use staying with Monaco following their relegation.
AS Monaco played Olympique Lyon on Sunday, May 29, at Stade Louis II in their last league game of the season. In a must-win game, Les Rouge et Blanc lost by a 2-0 margin. Pape Diakhate and Lisandro Lopez scored for the visitors as Lyon proved too strong
an opponent.
The Korean joined the French outfit in 2008 after spending three years at FC Seoul. Since joining Monaco, the 25-year-old has made 85 League appearances, netting in 25 goals during the process. He also has made 50 international appearances for South Korean
side to date and has 16 goals under his belt. Park won the K-League with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899.
Now the player has confirmed that he is looking for a new challenge. English Premier League club, Bolton Wanderers, had previously shown interest in the striker and there is a possibility that the 25-year-old could find himself on English grounds ahead of
the start of the 2011/12 season.
"There is no more reason to remain in Monaco. We will pursue a transfer. I would like to have new challenge in a stronger team capable of competing in bigger Europe-wide tournaments like the Champions League." Park’s agent revealed his stance.
Monaco officials have priced the Korean at 6 million Euros and have made it clear that they would not sell the player for anything less than that.
