Park Ji-Sung admits he has not been up to the mark this season
Manchester United wide man Park Ji-Sung has come out in the press recently and has admitted that his recent performances for the club leave a lot to be desired. The winger has been a constant pick in the last couple of seasons as club manager Sir Alex Ferguson
has continuously shown his faith in the South Korean’s abilities. This season however, the winger has found first team action hard to come by.
Park said, “I am not at all satisfied with my performances this season. Perhaps I wasn’t ready for this campaign. I have been weak mentally and now I must improve”
The South Korean featured for the entire 90 minutes against Valencia last night and the winger was satisfied by the effort he put in. “My first half performance was ok but I played better in the second half. I have not played a lot in recent times.”
Park was signed by the Red Devils in 2005 following a string of impressive performances for PSV Eindhoven. Park’s performance against AC Milan in 2004/05 version of UEFA Champions league was truly spectacular.
Park has been a “rotation” player since his arrival and the winger admits he is now used to sitting on the bench for some matches. Park went on to speak about Wayne Rooney’s three week injury layoff. “Manchester United has always come up with the answers
to the problems it faces. A club gains and losses big starts but the performances must remain. We must strive to improve and display our quality on the pitch,” opined Park.
Park Ji-Sung was a part of the South Korea team that featured in the World Cup in South Africa and the winger might be facing post-tournament fatigue. With Nani’s coming of age, performances and the signing of Javier Hernandez by the club, the winger is now
facing stiff competition for a first team spot.
Manchester United are now gearing up for a tricky fixture against Sunderland on Saturday and the winger is expected to make the starting eleven. Sunderland has taken a point from both Arsenal FC and Liverpool in the early stages of the Barclays Premier League
and the Red Devils will need to be careful if they are to win three points.
