Park Ji-Sung self-critical after Champions League win
Manchester United midfielder Park Ji-Sung said he was disappointed with his own performance after his team's 1–0 victory against Valencia on Wednesday.
United got their first Champions League win of the season after a mediocre performance was capped off by substitute Javier Hernandez' late strike.
Despite the three points, the Korean said he must improve on the form he has shown in the opening stages of the season.
"I am not satisfied with my performances this season," said Park, who made his seventh appearance of the season against the Spaniards.
"I don't know why my performances have not been good. Maybe I was not ready for the season. But mentally I have been weak and I have to improve."
Ineffectual start to the season
The 29-year-old scored in the league cup as United overcame Scunthorpe 5–2 last week, a game in which he also helped set up Michael Owen's second goal, but the midfielder had a subdued game against Valencia.
In his team's league draw with Bolton Wanderers last weekend, Park was replaced by Ryan Giggs only eight minutes into the second half after failing to make an impact.
"I missed a couple of games and then played again, although since I joined Manchester United, it has been like that so I should know how to deal with it."
Park added that regardless of his personal form, United will be able to cope with Wayne Rooney's absence over the next three weeks. The English striker has been ruled out with an ankle injury.
"Throughout Manchester United's history we always come up with answers to problems. Big stars come and go but still the team keep producing the same performances. We just concentrate on that to make sure we show our quality on the pitch."
Sir Alex Ferguson's team travels to face Sunderland in the Premier League on Saturday.
