Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Scott Parker is delighted to have made his return from the Achilles injury which kept him out on the sidelines since the Premier League season started.
The influential midfield enforcer picked up the injury during Tottenham’s pre-season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034. Parker was ruled out for a considerable time period as he recovered from the injury, but finally made his return in a cameo appearance in the
1-0 win over Swansea City last weekend.
This marked the player’s first competitive appearance in a Spurs jersey this season. The player was relieved and delighted to have returned to the pitch and is hopeful that he can continue and build on last season’s strong and impressive performances.
Parker had become a regular starter last season under former manager Harry Redknapp, making a total of 34 appearances since his move from West Ham United.
Speaking to the press, the player said:
“I’d been out for quite some time and I’m just pleased to back out there. My main objective now is to try and get as much game time as I can and try to get fully fit. It’s still early but I feel good and I feel sharp. I’m certainly getting there.”
The player has played for Spurs Under-21s at Sunderland and Aston Villa as he recovered from the injury and worked on his match fitness and sharpness. Parker scored in the 3-0 victory over Aston Villa and impressed manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Many thought the player would find it hard to break into the first team due to the presence of Sandro and Moussa Dembele, who was signed this season from Fulham. Both players have forged a solid partnership in central midfield, and have become two of Tottenham’s
most important players.
However, Villas-Boas said that Parker will be regular starter for the team, and expressed his pleasure at his return. Speaking to reporters, the Portuguese said:
“Parker will start regularly for our team. Like everyone else, he will have to compete for his place, but we recognize his importance and rate him very highly. He offers us more possibilities, as well as experience and leadership.”
