Tottenham Hotspur midfielder and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 international Scott Parker could miss the start of the new Premier League season if his injured Achilles tendon is in need of surgery.
Scott Parker is currently being evaluated by the Spurs medical staff while the rest of the squad is out of the country for their pre-season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034. If Parker needs to be operated on, he will miss the start of the Premier League season
and according to Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas, Parker will be in a race against time to get fit for their first game of the season.
Spurs start their Premier League campaign with an away game to Newcastle United at the Sports Direct Arena on the 18th of August 2012. Newcastle United are one of the teams to watch out for next season, and Parker’s absence will be sorely missed
if he is unable to feature for Tottenham.
Speaking on Parker’s injury, Villas-Boas said:
"There might be a small tear on his Achilles - we are at the moment evaluating the situation regarding a possible operation that can take four to six weeks normally to heal.”
Parker‘s injury could see him out of action till September. He could further miss England’s friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ukraine-c3032 in September.
The 31-year old England international has been instrumental in the Spurs midfield last season. Parker operated as a box-to-box midfielder, and is widely known for being a tough tackler and an aggressive central midfielder.
He started his professional career with Charlton Athletic and then moved to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786.  He was named the PFA Young Player of the Year in the 2003-2004 season, but was unable to get much playing time in his preferred position. Parker then moved to Newcastle
United in July 2005. Parker started to feature regularly for the Magpies and stood out in a team that was unable to show consistency and form.
In June 2007, Parker moved to West Ham and following their relegation, he signed for Tottenham Hotspur in his quest for more international playing time with England. Parker has been ever present for Tottenham and will be missed if he undergoes surgery.
