Tottenham Hotspur’s Scott Parker has recently undergone successful surgery on an Achilles tendon and will be sidelined until September.
The England midfielder is almost certain to miss the first month of the season after undergoing surgery on his Achilles. An official statement on the club’s website said:
“Scott Parker has undergone successful surgery to his right Achilles.”
“The midfielder is expected to return to training after the international break in September.”
Parker injured his Achilles tendon before the Spurs squad travelled for their pre-season tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034. The midfielder was expected to be out for at least two months, which became a cause of great concern for new manager Andre Villas-Boas, who
rates the midfielder highly and is aware of his importance to the squad.
When the player got injured, Villas-Boas had said that ‘Parker will be in a race against time to get fit for the first game of the season.’
Speaking about the injury a month back, Villas-Boas had said:
"There might be a small tear on his Achilles - we are at the moment evaluating the situation regarding a possible operation that can take four to six weeks normally to heal.”
Spurs start their Premier League campaign on the 18th of August away to Newcastle United. The game will be the first real test for Villas-Boas, who is sure to miss his coveted midfielder. Parker has been integral to the way Spurs play ever since
he arrived from West Ham United last season.
He primarily operates as a defensive midfielder, but his work ethic allows him to run from box to box, helping the defence and the attack as he makes his way through the midfield.
Parker has been struggling with his Achilles since last season. The player started experiencing problems with it towards the end of the last Premier League campaign, but he still managed to feature for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 in June’s Euro 2012 tournament.
The injury worsened and Parker had to miss out on Spurs’ pre-season tour after the medical staff decided that he would need to be operated on.
