Parking Problems, parking on a cycle lane?

I live opposite a bowling club and every summer we have the same old problem, this year its alot worse.

The entrance to our garage next to our house is always got the back of cars over hanging so this makes it difficult to see when coming and going.

The main problem is that all this is on a dangerous bend and the council have put a speed calming island about 10 yards away from our entrance. The cars are double parked on the grass verge on our side, destroying newly planted small trees and to top it all the ones nearest the road are parked on the cycle lane so anyone on bikes have to pull out into the traffic on the bend to carry on.

There is going to be one almighty accident out there one of these days as no one can see as they have blocked all the vision.

They just don't take any notice when we have tried talking to them.

And guess what, these people are all OAP's !!!

Does anyone know the know the legal side of this, next step is to complain to the council.

complain , they obviously need support to place parking restrictions and bollards to protect the verge . The bowling club ought to provide parking .

You need to visit your local council and speak to someone from the highways department.  The will know whether or not people are allowed to park there or not.

If the council state that they are not allowed to park there, then you could take the complaint to the police.

Call the police and let them call the tow trucks and the problem is solved.....and you wont need tow away signs if they are parking on your property.

my uncle is an MP. I suggest you contact yours. It is completely insane to park on a cycle lane! I cycle to uni every day! Please talk to your local MP before there is an accident =]

Next time they are all there, call the police. They will be booked for obstuction. It'll make them think twice about doing it again.

Of course what they should do is park OUTSIDE the cycle lane, that will solve the problem for cyclists. The traffic enraging everted pothole will of course move cars even further into oncoming traffic. This what the council WANT, it is why they will do nothing about it. It is DESIGNED to cause traffic to slow down drastically and cause pollution, then the can say-"look at those nasty polluting cars".
