Question:

Parking Ticket Boston?

I got a parking ticket in Boston this week for parking at a meter in front of the charles playhouse (where you see blue man group). The meter didn't say anything and there were not any signs around the meter. I got a ticket saying I was parked in resident only parking. I don't think anyone lives at the theater and there were clubs next door. I also heard that all meters downtown become resident parking after 6pm. What should I do? Is this true? Do I have to pay? I think its b.s. cause there were no signs saying I can't park there. It was a rental car too by the way.

  1. Are you sure the ticket has the license plate of the car you are driving and/or the correct address?  Someone  may have stuck his/her own ticket to your car.  If so just ignore the ticket.  If the license number and location is correct just call the Traffic and Parking Department telephone number and explain the location is at a metered space in a commercial zone.  They will verify,  cancel your ticket and acknowledge by mail or email, as you request.

  2. there are actually apartment buildings (directly to the up the street from the venue) around that area that usually house college kids so i'm not surprised that it was residential...i would have guessed it was commerical but getting a spot right in front of a venue like that is usually too good to be true especially when theres parking garages all around that area.

  3. You will probabaly have to pay.  But.. you can write a letter to the address on the ticket and explain your situation.  They sometimes let tourists off on things like this and a letter is easy.  Go on about how you loved boston and think its a great city and good luck.

I have done this 4 or 5 times in Hawaii and they always let me slide.  (not in the same trip of course)
