Question:

Parking a Horse Box on a Public Road?

I live in a cul-de-sac and there is a person near us who owns a horse box. It a motorised horse box, so isn't attached behind a vehicle. Are they allowed to park this horse box outside their house (and mine)?? It is taxed, but it is just such a nuisance as it takes up so much space.

So is this allowed or not?? And if I could phone somebody to complain, who would I phone??

Any help would be grateful.

Thank You!!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. If the vehicle is taxed there nothing you can do unless it is blocking your drive .

  2. I know it's really irritating but I think it's allowed as long as it's taxed and not illegally parked, there's a guy in my street who does the same thing but with a caravanette and he's never been made to move it.

  3. I know of a caravan that the owner was ordered to move by the council because it blocked access to emergency vehicles.

If a fire engine can't get past it, the council will order it's removal or tow it away.

"Blocking emergency access", is the official complaint to the highways department. If your house is on fire you want the fire brigade, so you have legitimate grounds to complain :0)

  4. Yes, they can park it where they want 'cos it isn't an HGV.
