  1. Just enjoy the extra 30 yards walk, I'm sure it won't kill you :o)

  2. It's probably more of a safety issue. If you could imagine how difficult it is for a mum with a toddler who could run off and in a car park that could be tragic. Therefore, it is easier to have parent parking close to the shop door. Why should they ? you ask. Well, as a parent who has had to use the parent and child spaces it is easier when struggling with a toddler and shopping. I'm sorry that you get annoyed about this. Maybe you could ask the supermarkets why in case I've got it wrong.

  3. its the rules of the supermarket

  4. No.  As a mum, it annoys me more when people without kids park in these spaces just to have a shorter walk.  There are good reasons for us to have wider spaces.  Have you ever tried wresting a car seat back in when some idiot has parked too close?

  5. I am glad parents with children are provided with wider parking areas for, if not, they would undoubtedly damage my car when opening doors.

  6. supermarkets should have valet parking

  7. tell you  what annoys me is when ar******* like you with no kids take the parent and toddler spaces!!!!get a life.

  8. Yes, it does annoy me.  Someone who has no children will probably have more disposable income to spend, so they should get priority spaces.

I agree that if parent and child places are located in the far corner, children running in the car park could be a problem.  This could be solved by having a series of cages in to which the children could be deposited.

  9. They have wider spaces because it is easier to get the children in and out of the car. I would rather they were given "priority parking" than have a big dent in my car from another car door smacking into it.

  10. It doesn't annoy me that they get priority parking.  But I get very annoyed with parents for even thinking about taking the little bleeders to the supermarket.

A thank you in advance for all the thumbs down!

  11. Yes it does annoy me, it is most unjust.  Women who have a gaggle of kids in tow do not usually work so they have plenty of time to walk a long way from parking spot to shop.  Single working men however have less time so working men only should get the closest parking spots.  Besides, working men build the car parks.

  12. it doesn't annoy me because i would rather not see kids running all over the car park!  They have the close spaces to they don't have to walk all over the car park with kids in tow!  And they have more mouths to feed,  so more money!

  13. You have just mentioned one of my pet hates.  I am disabled and I have a disabled badge for parking.  Why is it that Mother and Child have parking places nearer the store than disabled persons? When I am taken shopping by a neighbour and we use the disabled parking spots, I have further to walk than if I was young and had small children!!! I have to use a walking stick to get around and I suffer from giddiness so the further I have to walk without holding onto a trolley isn't fun.  I got angry last week, because on my way to the store, I passed by a young couple with their two children,  jumping and running around, yet their car was parked nearer than I could!

Better not moan anymore, or else I'll be classed as "grumpy"!!

  14. what city is this?  i haven never seen priorty parking , in any supermake lot

  15. I get as annoyed as you about this... I spend money, and my money is as good as anyone elses, why do they get preferential parking spaces?......................

  16. It should be that they are further away so it tires out the kids so they're not running around the shop!?

  17. No, it does not bother me. I always park further down away from everyone so my car does not get dinged up. I don't mind the walk because I need the exercise anyway. The walk helps me stay in shape. : ) However, I don't think they should have a closer space than a handicap person. Handicap spaces should be closer to the store than parents with children parking spaces.

  18. since when do parents and children get priority parking?

  19. The spaces are often designed a lttle bigger in area for childrens and family carparking, it is designed like this to manage the children from carseats, or to avoid the door banging the next car *which often children do.  also ideal for prams, and if you look at a parent bay, the markings are more distinct to make drivers passing more wary that there are children around this area. This will then lead the passers drivers to slow down, just incase a child runs out.

  20. Yep.  My elderly mother has suggested that we should park in a parents and child space when I take her shopping!

  21. yup, its annoying. my kids and i - they are teens and stores didnt try to drum up business when they were babes by having these annoying spots - anyway, we were looking for a parking spot today at the store, and the first 4 were for parents, the next 4 were for expecting parents, then came elderly and THEN handicapped.

the only ones who deserve a special spot are our disabled or our vets. dont whine about how hard it is to get the kid into and out of the car seat, i did it for years with no problem, and i had more than one in a car seat. if its that hard for you, leave them with a babysitter.

  22. It's simple really.  Because I have children it means I have a family.  Because I have a family it means more mouths to feed - which makes me one of their best customers.

And for their best customers who are struggling with toddlers they like to give a little back.

    Now, STOP WHINING!!!!

[Edit] for all those who think the only people who take kids to the shops are single mums on benefits - listen carefully.

I do most of the shopping in our household - and I always take my son with me.  He's 2 and in a car seat, so it's very difficult to open the rear door of my car wide enough to get him out safely when I'm in a standard space.  If I do manage to get a 'parent & child' spot it saves me from scratching/denting the car door next to me, and BTW I work full time and do all of this after work...

  23. They don't have that where I live (SE Florida).  They have the handicap spaces for people who have the special permits.  Interesting idea though, and I doubt it would annoy me.  Kids= hands to hold+ more bags of food to load, so it makes sense.
