Question:

Parking at work?

My employer does not have enough parking at our location for the people in the office. They have stated that people can now double park.

The trouble is peoples cars are getting scratched and I want to know if because the company has relaxed its parking and basically demands people park out of the designated parking areas if they can be held liable if any damage is caused and not reported.

  1. my employer said they are not required by law to provide any parking for their employees. so in effect you could be required to use on street public parking. this is in Pa. the state that is last with the least.

  2. No owners use car parks at their own risk.  Why not ask your boss if he's willing to subsidise your parking expenses.  Get together will all your work colleagues on this one.

  3. No they cant, Car parks are supplied at owners risk unless stated otherwise.

If it is a secured carpark (i.e with CCTV) you might be able to find out how who has damaged the vehicle and claim off their insurance.

  4. Under British law, no employer is obliged to offer their employees any on-site parking at all.

If you do choose park on your employers premises, it is entirely at your own risk.

Like it or lump it, but that is the law...

  5. No the employer is not responsible for any damages or loss of items while the employees vehicle is parked on the property.

  6. No, the company cannot be held liable. The driver of the vehicle who damaged the other car is liable, however. You park at your own risk.

  7. Sorry to go against the tide of opinions on here but just because they put up a disclaimer it does not give them a get out of jail card in some circumstances,They still have obligations ask your Health and Safety rep.
