Parking in queens to take the 7 train?

I live in Long Island. Would it be cheper to drive into queens, (Flushing) park the car there & take the subway into midtown. In comparison to paying LIRR fare of about $20 (rt) & then buying the $7 dollar all day metro card.

Some part of Long Island can be heavey, so best thing to park and ride both LIRR and purchase 1-Day Pass at Subway Station $7.50.
