I tore my acl and I'm out for at least 6 months, I was curious if there is some sort of procedure that would help store my bike.... besides replacement parts and what not (just redid the internal parts valves, new piston, ect) All i know of to do is keep the chain oiled and wd 40ed to prevent rust... drain the gas... keep it on a stand... anything with the air filter or anything???

  1. Drain the fuel or fill it completely. When you top it off, less air can get inside and air holds moisture. keeping it on a stand would help a little bit. Taking out the spark plug and spraying a quick shot of WD-40 in to the hole or even plain motor oil. Reinstall the plug to keep dirt and rodents out. Change the oil (if its a 4 stroke) and clean the air filter so its ready to go the next time some one wants to take it out. Hope you get better soon

  2. Purchase a can of "sta-bil" and put it in your gas tank as per the instructions and run the engine for a few minutes. That will keep the gas from going bad and clogging up the carb.

It's available at auto parts and bike shops.

  3. Dont over do it. This is what I do, lube the chain, FILL the TANK TO THE TOP with fresh gas, and start it every week til it warms up, and roll it back and forth a couple times, and park it a foot forward or backward, just to keep everything round......
