Is there a place to park at a nearby hotel or parking lot in Galveston, TX and take a taxi to the cruise ship port so that we can avoid the $70 parking fee?

  1. Holiday Inn Sun Seeker has a park and cruise deal for around $20.00. Carl the GM is a great person to work with.

They will shuttle to the port and pick you up and bring you back to your car.

You can also check if anyone else is going on that trip here at this great Yahoo group

  2. It's about a horse a piece. The parking fee at the pier or a night at the motel. Factor in the continental breakfast and being there a day early, Make sure the motel offers complementry pier / airport shuttle service. The motel might just be the better deal. Another thing to consider, as you board the ship, you get your first picture taken. Most ppl hate this because they have been traveling all morning and claim they look like c**p. You'd be freshly showered!!

    Bon Voyage!!

  3. You'll find that there are several hotels in Galveston who will allow you to park your car there for the week of your cruise.  We have done this even with a large group, by caravaning all the vehicles to the terminal for unloading, bringing them all back to the hotel with just the drivers, and then the drivers all loading into one vehicle which is left at the cruise parking lot.  All drivers can then split the $70 to park the one vehicle there.  Check into it, and I can give you a specific hotel if you need it.  Let me know!

  4. The web site for the port of Galveston gives information about alternative parking available:

    There is other parking too:

This public parking is about 6 blocks from the port:

  5. On our cruise last year we just went down without a plan and there were lots all over with charges ranging depending on how close to the port it is.  We left our Mustang there for the whole week and had no problems whatsoever.  Their shuttles were pretty efficient too!
