Question:

Parking near the War Museum?

Tomorrow I will be driving to Ottawa from Kingston for the Bluesfest at the Canadian War Museum. Due to some stupid procrastination on my part, I was unable to purchase a pass to park on site at the Museum, and must find somewhere else to park.

Can someone who knows the Ottawa area recommend a good place to park that's as close to the War Museum as possible? Somewhere with public transit access would be a bonus as well. Our current "last resort" is to park at the airport and take public transit or a taxi to the museum, but parking there is a bit expensive and far away.

Cheers!

  1. Instead of parking at the airport, park at the Park and Ride at South Keys Shopping Centre (http://maps.google.ca/maps?source=ig&hl=... which is a short drive and then take the o-Train ($2.25 each way) to Bayview station (a ten minute train ride) and then walk about a block. This is the cheapest close parking you'll find, and the Park and Ride is supervised.

  2. There are a couple of city parking lots nearby but they might get full early for the Bluesfest. I was there last night for James taylor. Try a couple of these most are less than a 5/10min cab ride away.

760 Somerset - St. Luke’s Church at Empress-closest to Park

170 Second between Bank and Lyon

234-250 Slater - Bank at Slater

301 Preston Street - Preston between Gladstone and Hwy 417 overpass

687 Somerset - west of Bronson-closest to Park

Last night we parked in this grass lot(not parking lot) with a bunch of other cars. It's on Booth headed towards the Lebreton and it's 1 traffic light away and just after the bus parkway 1 block away from Wellington. We took a chance but it was close to the site and we did not get a ticket, check it out [people may park there again, it's

  3. South Keys is good, but if you are coming up the 416, the fallowfield park and ride is easier to get to.  Further from Bluesfest, though

It is located at Fallowfield and Greenbank.  Exit the 416 at Fallowfield Rd and follow it east to the park and ride.  About a 5 minute drive from the highway to the lot.
