Parking ticket? Can i appeal against it?

I parked in a hotel car park which was pay and display. It said parking for 24hrs £5. I parked my car at 9pm and was expecting to be able to park there till 9pm the next day. But when i came back 2 hours before the 24 hour deadline i had a parking ticket. I aksed the hotel why i got a ticket when i paid for 24hrs. Their response was that even though it says 24 hours the 24 hour period is in fact from 12pm to 12pm the next day only. Can i contest this ticket.

I think u are in UK. Many private or government parking are like this.Best is prepaid parking area avlailble. Any how if u have a recept consult a lawer

If there was a sign there stating that it was 12 - 12, or if you received a piece of paper with that information on it, then you are stuck !
