Parkwest Angel clinches victory at Hove after a pulsating race
Parkwest Angel clinched victory in the 515 metres Grade A2 race at Hove on Sunday, January 29, 2012. She was the favourite to win, and lived up to her reputation in the end. The cash prize awarded to the winning b***h was £129.
The triumphant greyhound has had a mixed time in recent events, but she bounced back well with a victory at Hove. She just managed to win by a head’s distance though, as there was a stiff competition at the top of the order.
Having started the race from trap number one, Parkwest Angel assumed the lead right from the outset. She kept on gaining momentum from then onwards, and ended up on top of the table.
The A. E Gardiner trained b***h had a starting price of 2 to 1, and she completed the race distance in 30.09 seconds.
She was the youngest of all participants in the event, born in January 2010, and is the daughter of Kinloch Brae out of Liaise With Lisa.
Second place went to Tullna Puma, who managed to cover the race distance in 30.11 seconds, after popping out from trap number two.
He also had the confidence of the bookmakers, earning a starting price of 3 to 1, which was a pretty decent one.
Tullna Puma could have won the race, had he not been crowded in the middle section. He had a pretty decent start with the pace to end up on top, but was left behind by 0.02 seconds.
The D. D. Knight trained dog is the son of Westmead Hawk out of Greenwell Puma, and was born in December 2009.
Another top contender, Fork Handles, completed the race in third place by just a head’s distance. He had a clear run, after entering from trap number four, but was unable to catch the top two in the end.
Fork Handles, also trained by D. D. Knight, had a starting price of 3 to 1, and completed the total distance in 30.13 seconds. He was born in March 2009, and is the son of Westmead Hawk out of Jazz Hurricane.
The bottom three greyhounds, Kraken Lad, Fabulous Student and Guinness Style failed to make a strong impression in the race.
However, the race was pretty exciting for the spectators, as there was some thrilling competition between the top three finishers.
