Ray Parlour has gone on to claim that the loss of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380 from the Emirates, to join Manchester United could prove to be a big blow for the team in the future.
Last night, it was revealed that the two teams had agreed a fee to see the striker leave the Gunners to join the Red Devils and it is now a mere formality for him to complete his medical, in order for him to sign for the Manchester based club.
The striker had already revealed that he wanted to leave, but the manner in which he left and the team that he ended up joining has surprised quite a few people.
Parlour, when talking about the transfer and just how the deal could impact Arsenal is quoted to have said: “It’s been years since Arsenal sold a player to Manchester United. I think [the last] was Frank Stapleton [in 1981].”
“They were always our massive rivals and I know we sold a lot of players to Manchester City but Manchester United were always our rivals and we didn’t want to help them.”
“It’s a big blow for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 but I’m just hoping with the money they receive from the transfer that Arsene Wenger has got a replacement in mind.”
Arsene Wenger has gone on to claim that the North London club won’t be signing any more strikers, since they have more than enough players to play up front.
The team has already gone on to sign http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lukas-Podolski-c22896 and Olivier Giroud from Koln and Montpellier and should the two fit into the manager’s plans, then the team might not have a lot of problems this coming season.
The Gunners boss now has a handsome amount of funds to spend over the remainder of the transfer window and should he make some decent signings, the Gunners could still be on course to win a trophy or two this coming season.
Nonetheless, it is now a wait to see just how the North London club perform without their former captain and whether they can finally put an end to their trophy drought.
