Question:

Parole and Probation Officers in Kentucky?

I was looking at the job descriptions for Parole and Probation Officers in Kentucky on the state job site... I will be graduating college soon and that will be my job title.

I noticed that it said that they only work a 37.5 hour work week... Why is that? that is 3.5 hours a week less than a 40 hour work week.

Does anyone know why they would shorten the week? Is it because Parole/Probation officers are on call 24 hours a day?

  1. Hello Marie. It is just a technical point  but a half hour each working day would be a paid lunch break time. Still getting paid for it, but not considered "work" time.  And yes, you would be on call 24/7. If needed during off hours, that constitutes overtime. You will keeping a sheet that is turned in weekly showing your times, duties, miles driven with your vehicle ( for reimbursement) and such.

I hope this helps and you can find it useful
