Question:

Parris Island Phone Call?

by  |  earlier

I received a phone call from my recruit this morning at Parris Island. They are in training week 3. It was so unexpected. She asked for her sister's address (which I know she already has). Any ideas why they got such a privilege? I am still dumbfounded by it.

Thanks in advance, Beth

  1. Search me.  My son leaves in September and I've already been warned that we will get that one phone call once he gets there and that is it.  You lucked out.  :o)

  2. As the guy above me said, CONSIDER yourself luck!! When my boyfriend was in Marine boot camp, he got to call when he got there and like 3 days before he graduated. Most RCT's dont get to call, but sometimes their PLT or themselves personally do something the DI's appreciate and as a reward, the DI's allow them a phone call. She could of did some great PT or excelled in an event. Now some sneak calls, while others go to the PX and sneak one there. Thats a HUGE risk and I doubt she would do that. Just be thankful and in your next letter maybe ask her why she was allowed that phone call. Semper Fi!!

  3. Consider yourself lucky! Most recruits just get their initial call and that's it. I sure as h**l didn't get a call during week three. Maybe she was able to sneak it (I sure as h**l wouldn't) or it is possible she and/or her platoon is THAT squared away that her DI let her. That's a rarity but I've heard of it happening on occasion. Either way, be thankful you've gotten it and I'm sure you're very proud of your recruit. Semper Fi.
