Parrot shots from the vet

can anyone tell me more or knows of a site i can find out what the shots are made from how often the parrot has to have these shots ( once every year i think )

  1. You should really check with your avian vet on what vaccines are recommended for your bird.  

    There is currently a vaccine for Polyomavirus.  I believe it is manufactured by Biomune and the recommendations are a little different for adults than for juveniles.  

    I believe there is also a vaccine for Pacheco's Disease available.

    Unfortunately I understand that though a new vaccine has been developed for PBFD it isn't available in the United States at this time.  I believe it's currently being used in Australia though.

    There is no vaccine yet available for PDD but there is hope that a virus recently found may be causative.  

    I believe most vaccines are inactivated or "killed" virus.  The birds cannot contract the virus from the vaccine.
