She's an African Gray Parrot. What does this mean? When she really gets into it, the puffing sounds more like squeaking.

  1. It sounds like she's trying to mate with you. Is she regurgitating, too? My Amazons, which are cousins of Greys, have this ridiculous dance they do for me and it includes lifting one leg, puffing up and making really weird noises. The best thing to do is walk away from them until they calm down, otherwise, you run the risk of losing the parent/birdie relationship and entering a mate/bird relationship. You don't want to be her mate, because she can become very territorial and attack other people who are near you.

It's a sign of love. If you notice her eating less or not pooping, definitely take her to an avian vet. You know your bird and will notice if something is wrong.

    Good luck!

  2. All three of my caiques will do this -- they'll lift their wings (it looks more like shrugging their shoulders, if birds have shoulders), lower their heads, puff their feathers out, pin their eyes -- and then attack my bare feet.

Your bird sounds like it's doing it as a sign of affection. Mine do it when they're ornery.

  3. it could have to go pee.  or it it is crazy.  or you make it feel comfortable!

  4. maybe its in love

  5. It could just be her little quirk... My conure sits around and bobs up and down and clicks his beak, especially if someone is around "dancing" with him, or if he hears clapping, or sees something bobbing... When he really gets into it, he involves a foot. it's adorable.
